Design and Execution | 2019

The client approached us to the design their flagship cafe, our brief was to create a space reminiscent of the great Indian Dhaba, but in an elevated fashion.
The idea was to celebrate the humble parantha, and take it from home food to the mass market. Our approach was to create a fusion of colour and texture rooted in the ethnic vocabulary of the highway dhaba. We picked up colors from the trucks running criss-cross across our highways to add elements of interest.
Creating intimate seating that encouraged conversation was also important. Emphasis was placed on celebrating the opportunity given to us by the exposed structure of the roof to create multiple use zones in the layout. A warm material palette and refurbished furniture adds a touch of relatability and character to the space.
